Follow an operation from material availability to time recording, completion and cost review.

## Before you start

The manufacturing order needs a bill of materials with operations and work centers. Review the working hours, the hourly rate of each work center and, when operator selection is enabled, the employees allowed on each work center.

## Step by step

### 1. Prepare and schedule

Open the manufacturing order, check the quantity, the components, the reservations and the operations, and then confirm and plan it. Check component availability and work-center capacity before starting. Use the work-center overview or the work-order list to open the right operation.

### 2. Record work as it happens

Start the operation when the work begins. When operator selection is enabled, each operator identifies themselves on the operation before starting. Pause the operation during interruptions and record the reason when requested. Follow the instructions of the operation and record the actual quantities and lots.

### 3. Finish and handle partial production

Finish each operation and check the actual consumption and the quantity produced before completing the manufacturing order. For partial production, choose whether to create a backorder for the remaining quantity. Record scrap separately, with its actual location and quantity.

### 4. Review time and costs

Compare the planned and actual durations and the work-center and employee costs in the order analysis and in the linked analytic entries. Check the hourly cost recorded for each employee, which is the basis of the labor cost. Reconcile the valuation of the finished product with the accounting team.

## Expected result

The completed work has actual quantities, operator times and traceable production costs.

## If something goes wrong

If an operation cannot be started, check the previous operations it depends on, the availability of the components, the employees allowed on the work center and the work-center status before changing quantities.
