Unbuild a product and recover its components
Record an actual disassembly, linking the finished product consumed to the components that return to stock.
Before you start
Have the physical product, the quantity, the lot or serial number and, where applicable, the original completed manufacturing order. Confirm that the event is a disassembly, and not a customer return or scrap.
Step by step
1. Prepare the unbuild order
Open Manufacturing > Operations > Unbuild Orders and create a new order. Select the original manufacturing order or, when there is no manufacturing origin, the product and the bill of materials. Check the company, the quantity, the unit, the location the finished product leaves from and the destination of the recovered components. Make sure the finished product is in that source location.
2. Check traceability and quantities
For a tracked finished product, select the actual lot or serial number. For tracked components, enter the original manufacturing order, which carries the traceability of each component. Check earlier unbuilds of the same order and lot; for successive partial unbuilds, check the quantities and lots of each one.
3. Validate and inspect product moves
After checking the physical operation, choose Unbuild. On the completed order, open Product Moves and compare the finished product consumption, the recovered components, the lots and the valuation with the physical result. Record the components that cannot be reused through the scrap procedure.
Expected result
The finished product consumption and the recovered components have linked stock moves and checked quantities.
If something goes wrong
To unbuild from the link to the manufacturing order, complete that order first. If the disassembly also requires a change to the customer invoice or the fiscal document, follow the guide Handle a correction, cancellation or return.
