What the OCA is
The Odoo Community Association, the community that develops and maintains free modules for Odoo, including the Brazilian localization.
Before you start
No preparation needed.
Step by step
1. A community of companies and developers
The OCA (Odoo Community Association) is a non-profit association founded in 2013, based in Switzerland. It brings together companies, consultants and developers from many countries who share their work on Odoo as free software. Together, they maintain thousands of modules organized by subject: accounting, sales, purchases, inventory, human resources, reports and the localizations of each country.
2. How quality is kept
Every OCA module follows the same coding guidelines, has automated tests and goes through review by other members before being accepted. The modules are migrated to each new Odoo version, and the work is public: anyone can follow the changes and suggest improvements.
3. The Brazilian localization
The Brazilian localization of the OCA brings to Odoo the Brazilian taxes and fiscal rules: company and partner registration with CNPJ and state registration, fiscal operations, ICMS, IPI, PIS, COFINS, ISS and the tax reform, NF-e, NFC-e, NFS-e, CT-e and MDF-e, SPED, payment slips and CNAB, payroll and the Brazilian chart of accounts. It is maintained by Brazilian companies that use and implement Odoo. KMEE contributes to the Brazilian localization.
4. OCA modules in your Odoo
OCA modules are free and work with Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise. They add functions that the standard Odoo does not bring, such as the Brazilian fiscal documents, management reports and dozens of improvements to sales, purchases and finance. The opening and closing of the videos in this documentation credit the OCA for the modules they show.
Expected result
You know what the OCA is, how it keeps the quality of its modules and what the Brazilian localization brings to Odoo.
