Prepare a company for Brazilian fiscal operations
Check the company data and the fiscal settings that define how sales, purchases and electronic documents are taxed and issued.
Before you start
Use a user with the Fiscal Manager profile and keep at hand the company data and the tax rules defined with your accountant. Check the active company in the company selector, because many defaults and accounts depend on it.
Step by step
1. Check the company and the accounts
In Fiscal > Partners > Company, open the company and check the legal name, CNPJ, registrations, address, municipality and, in the Fiscal tab, the tax regime and the CNAE. In the accounting configuration, review the chart of accounts, the journals and the receivable and payable accounts. Partner defaults can change from one company to another, so check them in the company you are going to work in.
2. Check the operations and fiscal classifications
Open Fiscal > Configuration > Operations > Operation and review the sale, purchase and return operations and their lines, with the conditions, CFOPs and tax definitions. Only approved operations can be chosen in documents. In a draft document with a known customer and product, compare the partner fiscal profile, the product classification, the CFOP and the tax situation with the rules defined for the regime, origin and destination.
3. Check the series and the certificate
In Fiscal > Configuration > Others, check the fiscal document series and the company's digital certificate, with its holder and expiry date. In the company's Fiscal tab, check the linked certificate and, in the NF-e tab, the issuing environment, homologation or production, and the default series.
4. Check a sample transaction
Create a draft document with a known customer or supplier and products. Compare the taxes, totals, journal and installments with the result defined with your accountant. Adjust the operation or the record that caused any difference before releasing the configuration to everyday users.
Expected result
The company has its registration data, fiscal operations, series and certificate checked, and sales and purchase documents come out with the expected taxes.
If something goes wrong
If a document's tax differs from what you expected, check the active company, the chosen fiscal operation, the partner fiscal profile and the product NCM, and correct the record that differs from the defined rule.
