Classify the product for the fiscal document: fiscal type, NCM, CEST, origin and taxable unit

Fill in the Fiscal tab of the product and the service so that the fiscal document chooses the right operation line, rate and ST, and comes out with the correct NCM, CEST, origin and taxable unit in the XML and the DANFE.

Before you start

Use a user with access to the Fiscal app and have the classification of each product: NCM, CEST when there is ST, origin and, for services, the item of Complementary Law 116/2003 and the city hall taxation code. In a group with several companies, choose the active company before editing.

Step by step

1. Open the Fiscal tab of the product

Open Fiscal > Products and Services > Products and the product, or the same product from the Sales or Inventory app, and go to the Fiscal tab. The Fiscal Type and the ICMS Origin are stored per company: with more than one company, fill in both fields with each company active.

2. Choose the fiscal type

The Fiscal Type states what the product is for the company: Goods for Resale, Finished Product, Use and Consumption Material, Fixed Asset, Service, among others. It chooses the operation line and, through it, the CFOP. In the Venda operation, Goods for Resale goes to the Revenda line, with 5102 or 6102, and Finished Product goes to the Venda line, with 5101 or 6101.

With the Service type, the ICMS or ISSQN Tax field changes to ISSQN and the product no longer carries ICMS.

3. Enter the NCM and the CEST

Choose the NCM of the goods. It goes to the NCM tag of the XML and to the NCM/SH column of the DANFE, brings the IPI rate from the TIPI and works as a filter in the taxation rules and in the ICMS regulation. The Product Fiscal Genre is filled in from the first two digits of the NCM.

When the product is subject to tax substitution, choose the CEST: the list shows the CEST codes of the NCM entered, under ICMS Agreement 142/2018. The CEST goes to the CEST tag and is what takes the product to the ST rule of the ICMS regulation.

4. Enter the origin

The ICMS Origin is the code from 0 to 8 of the NF-e origin table: 0 for domestic, 1 for direct import, 2 for imported goods bought in the domestic market, and so on. It goes to the orig (goods origin) tag, appears in the DANFE together with the CST, and decides the 4% interstate rate for imported goods, from Resolution 13/2012 of the Federal Senate.

Example: a lamp imported by Guatambu Móveis and sold to Paraná, with origin 1, comes out with ICMS at 4% and with code 100 in the CST column of the DANFE.

5. Define the taxable unit

In the Taxable Unit box, choose the unit in which the tax is calculated and the conversion factor, when it differs from the sales unit.

Example: a set of four chairs sold in a box, with taxable unit UN and factor 4. A sale of 2 CX at 600.00 comes out with uCom (commercial unit) CX, qCom (commercial quantity) 2 and vUnCom (commercial unit price) 600.00, and with uTrib (taxable unit) UN, qTrib (taxable quantity) 8 and vUnTrib (taxable unit price) 150.00. The DANFE shows both units in the item line.

6. Check the barcode

The product barcode, in the Inventory or Sales app, goes to the cEAN and cEANTrib (barcode of the taxable unit) tags. A product without a barcode comes out with SEM GTIN.

7. Classify a service

For a service, use Fiscal > Products and Services > Services, which already creates the product with the Service type. In the Fiscal tab, enter the LC 116 Service Type, the NBS and the city hall taxation codes. Among the product codes, Odoo uses the one for the company city.

In the NFS-e, the LC 116 item goes to the service list item and the city hall code goes to the municipal taxation code. The codes of your city hall are in Fiscal > Configuration > Taxes > ISSQN > City Taxation Code.

8. Check it in a fiscal document

Create a draft invoice with the product. The Operation Line column shows the line chosen by the fiscal type, and the Fiscal Taxes column shows the taxes from the NCM and the origin. After confirming, check the NCM, CEST, orig (goods origin), uTrib (taxable unit) and qTrib (taxable quantity) tags in the XML, and the NCM/SH and CST columns in the DANFE.

Expected result

The product has fiscal type, NCM, CEST, origin and taxable unit in each company, and the fiscal documents come out with the correct operation line, rate and ST.

If something goes wrong

  • The invoice item came out without CFOP and without taxes: fill in the product Fiscal Type with the invoice company active.

  • The CEST does not appear in the list: check whether the product NCM is the one in the CEST table.

  • The service came out without the city hall code: register the taxation code for the company city and link it to the product.
