Prepare a product for Brazilian operations
Use one reviewed product record across quotations, purchases, stock movements and fiscal documents. Its fiscal classification affects the document lines created later.
Before you start
Have the product description, units, supplier references and fiscal classifications approved by the responsible team, and check the active company.
Step by step
1. Identify the product
Open Products from Sales, Purchase or Inventory, or from the Fiscal app under Product and Service. Before creating a record, search by name, internal reference and barcode. Fill in the description and the reference, and define whether the item is a service, a storable product or a consumable.
2. Review commercial and stock settings
Set whether the product can be sold and purchased. Review the unit of measure, purchase unit, category, price, invoicing policy and tracking when applicable. For purchased items, add the supplier reference and delivery lead time.
3. Complete the Brazilian classification
In the product's Fiscal tab, choose the Fiscal Type, the ICMS Origin and the NCM of goods. Fill in the CEST or the service classification when the operation requires it. Use the classifications provided by the fiscal team: a similar description does not define the correct classification.
4. Check the product in a draft
Save the product and add it to a draft quotation or purchase order with a known customer or supplier. Check the description, unit, fiscal operation and calculated taxes. If something is not right, correct the product record before using it in other documents.
Expected result
A product ready to be reused, with its commercial, stock and fiscal information reviewed together.
If something goes wrong
If the taxes differ from what you expected, check together the company's tax regime, the partner fiscal profile, the fiscal operation and the product's Fiscal tab, and correct the record that differs. If saving asks for the Fiscal Type, fill it in on the Fiscal tab: every product that can be sold or purchased needs it.
