Odoo: start here

What Odoo is, how its screens work and how this documentation helps you do each task, from the first access to the daily routine.

Before you start

Have your user and password at hand. Each person works with their own user, and what they see depends on the access the company gave them.

Step by step

1. Get to know Odoo

Odoo is a management system made of applications that work together: Sales, Purchases, Inventory, Invoicing, Contacts, Employees and many others. A sale order becomes a delivery, an invoice and a receivable without retyping. With the Brazilian localization, the same flow issues NF-e, NFC-e and NFS-e and calculates the taxes of each operation.

2. Find your way on the screen

The applications menu, in the upper left corner, opens each application. Inside it, the top menu leads to lists and settings. Every list has the same search bar, with Filters, Group by and Favorites, and the icons on the right switch between list, kanban, calendar, pivot and graph. Next to each record, the chatter keeps the history, internal notes and scheduled activities.

3. Use the documentation by task

Each guide is a task of the day: what to prepare, the steps, the expected result and what to check if something goes differently. The scenarios with video show the task from start to finish, with a calculated example. Look for the task by role (billing clerk, tax analyst, financial, buyer) or by business area.

4. Take the next steps

Start with the screens: search, filter and group a list, save a favorite and switch views. Then see how users and access rights work. Whoever manages Odoo in the company continues with the developer mode, automated actions, scheduled actions, sequences, parameters, security rules, working schedules and holidays.

Expected result

You know where each application is, how to find any record and where to look for the guide of each task.

If something goes wrong

If an application or a menu shown in a guide does not appear for you, ask whoever manages Odoo in your company to review your user's access.
